Happy Ides of March, and welcome back to Record of the Week! This week, the Randomizer serves up an excellent soundtrack to one of my favourite films, The Royal Tenenbaums. The cover I didn't know I needed, I love it so much. Snail Mail covering Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight. Seems like she started playing it live a few years ago, then it showed up earlier this year on the soundtrack for I Saw the TV Glow (cool movie, btw), and now it's out in the universe. Press play.

Been listening to this podcast about the films of John Hughes and the music that soundtracks them. Like many peeps, I grew up with John Hughes movies so these podcasts are super interesting. One of the main hosts, Tarquin Gotch, was the music supervisor for most of the movies. He's got a ton of interesting info. There are six episodes, each one focuses on a different film: Planes, Trains & Automobiles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful. I'm through the first three, really cool stuff. Also, a box set, Life Moves...

This is the last one of this "Possible Soundtracks" series. It definitely sounds good in the car.

This one might be my favorite, I just love post-rock, ambient and space sounding shit.
