Welcome back to Record of the Week. Two months of the year nearly done with and we just keep on rolling, no matter how awful everything is. Let's get to this record, it's Fever Ray's excellent self-titled debut album from 2009 (thank you, Randomizer). Fever Ray just returned with a new album of old songs, The Year of the Radical Romantics. From what I've read, this is essentially a live album; these songs were reworked and recorded live to tape in a studio. So the only thing missing, really, is the sound of a live audience.  I first learned of The Knife in 2006, when Silent Shout was on top of almost every end-of-year list. I've been following Fever Ray since 2009, when I was visiting my friend Joseph in LA and the first single dropped the day I drove to his place. I hadn't heard anything about it when he mentioned it and then we listened to If I Had a Heart. It was a weirdly foggy night in LA, so that combined with the menacing tones and that haunting voice.
