Company gave us a few extra days off for July 4th week. Decided to road trip and drove for about 7 hours today (Oakland to Oceanside). Listened to new Samia, Beach Bunny, Wishy, Maria Somerville, Blondshell, Pulp, Hailey Whitters, Sally Shapiro, Florry, Carrellee and Gelli Haha. Can confirm that they all sound really good in my car.

Bruce Springsteen - Tracks II: The Lost Albums

In between my Queensrÿche spins this weekend, I've been putting on Springsteen's Lost Albums (which just dropped last week). I've only made my way up to the third album (of seven!), but these are really great. Imagine having all these songs and sitting on them for 30-something years. Crazy. Definitely worth a listen if you're any level of Springsteen fan, or even if you're Springsteen-curious.

Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime

One of my fave metal albums, Queensrÿche's Operation: Mindcrime (1988). I picked up this reissue a few years ago. I get obsessed with this album every so often and this week has been one of those weeks of listening to it at least once a day. It's a concept album about a heroin addict slash radical who is brainwashed into joining an anarchic group. It all goes downhill from there, as you can imagine. But, we get a pretty great album out of it. I'm gonna keep listening to it until I'm not, and then I'll come back to it...

Really liking this new Hailey Whitters album, I just went down to my local last night and picked up a copy (on pink vinyl no less!). I discovered her when her second album, The Dream, was released right around the start of the pandemic. I think I listened to that album every day for at least 6 months. This one is definitely going into the rotation. Also, we need more butter sculptures in art.

Primavera 2025

Planning for this year's edition of Primavera Sound was pretty mundane, thankfully. Last year, I wasn't sure about anything due to, you know, circumstances. I did, however, end up being able to book a last minute flight and make it. This year was smooth, and the festival was a riot.  First off, like every festival, you start with the headliners. And what a trio it was. The Powerpuff Girls. Chappell (Blossom), Charli (Buttercup) and Sabrina (Bubbles). These are three of the top tier Pop Girls of right now.
