Another anniversary! This time it's Aimee Mann's Whatever, released 30 years ago on 11 May 1993. I got into Til Tuesday right from the drop, so I had been anticipating this album after I read that Til Tuesday were calling it quits. Saw her at Slim's in San Francisco when she toured for this album, and have seen her many, many times after. Easily one of my favourites.

Happy 20th to Eluvium's first album, Lambent Material, released on May 6 2003. I was heavily into Temporary Residence (label) back then and always browsing their catalog. I remember hearing a track on a sampler and liking it a lot, so I ended up buying the CD which I promptly fell in love with. To me, listening to it is like watching something beautiful slowly unfolding. Happy birthday to The Cure's legendary album, Disintegration, released into the world on this day in 1989. At the time, I was working at the Rainbow Records distribution warehouse in South San Francisco. I had heard of The Cure but maybe listened to a few songs at best. We were able to get CDs at cost from the warehouse, so I got a copy before going home. I remember lying on my bed, listening, while the songs slowly wrapped themselves around me and crawled into my brain. What an album. I'm old and jaded now, but I still kinda get...
