I came across the Sugar Stems' I Gotta Know early on in lockdown via random searches. Their album, The Sweet Sounds of the Sugar Stems, was already ten years old at that point but it still sounded fresh to me. This song is a breezy gem; perfection in simplicity. Guitars, bass, drums, a few chords and super catchy hooks. I bet it'd be a blast to see them play live. Listen below. Cristin Milioti is one of my fave actresses of late, I try to watch anything she's in. She always seems to be in these quirky, sort of unconventional roles. Palm Springs, Made for Love and The Resort pop into my mind. I first became aware of her in the cast soundtrack of David Bowie's Lazarus, she sings lead for Changes and Always Crashing in the Same Car. I've been listening to Malibu quite a bit lately. I came across her music randomly when she put out her One Life EP in 2019 and immediately fell for it. She has a new EP, Palaces of Pity, both linked below. I listen usually when I'm reading before sleep. I love the way the music drifts and moves kinda like the sea, very calming. Very recommended.
