Happy 30th anniversary to Jellyfish's Spilt Milk, originally released 9 February 1993, one my all time faves. A sparkly monster of a pop album, it's a kaleidoscope of ideas and influences but doesn't sound like any one thing except itself (if that makes any sense). It's like if Queen, The Beach Boys and The Beatles all mutated into one organism (a jellyfish!). I had gotten into them with their first album, Bellybutton. I really liked that one, so I was in on Spilt Milk on day one. It's been with me all these years and will be til I die....

Just stumbled upon Metal Marty's Greatest Hits. I know nothing about this guy at all, I only listened to it because the cover made me laugh. This might be the most campiest, funnest (but not ironic) album I've heard in a while. This shit rocks. Check it out on his Bandcamp page.

I read a piece today marking the tenth anniversary of My Bloody Valentine's m b v, which is the long-awaited follow-up to their legendary album, Loveless. Loveless came out in 91, so there was a good 20-something years in between the two albums. Loveless is one of my fave albums and when m b v was announced, I caught the fever and was one of those people that helped crash the website trying to order a copy. In any case, I was a bit underwhelmed when I finally got a hold of the record. I liked it but I didn't...

Came across Elle King's Come Get Your Wife the other day. The description sounded interesting enough, so I clicked play and listened. And liked it. And kept listening until it finished. Then I started it up again. Solid country/pop fun. The kind of thing you'd sing along with at the top of your voice while driving down the highway with all the windows down on a warm summer day. And that album cover is so great, I love it. Give it a spin, maybe you'd like it.
