The Raindrop Cars

blog life without algorithms music the innocence mission

One of the best musical accidents of my life was searching for The Sundays' Reading Writing & Arithmetic, but I wasn't sure of the band's name at the time. I was at the Tower Records on Bay Street in North Beach. I wandered around for a bit, looking at the new releases. Then I saw it, and I was sure of it. I picked up a copy of The Innocence Mission's self-titled debut album (1989) and made my purchase. I got home and I was looking forward to hearing that song I liked from the radio (Here's Where the Story Ends), but it wasn't on there when I played the album. What the fuck. But wait, this album was really good. I picked up that Sundays up a few weeks later and by that time, I had played this Innocence Mission album a whole lotta times and I was all in. Even got to see them some years later then they toured for their third album, Glow (1995). I've been keeping up with them ever since that wrong guess at the Tower Records. All this to say, The Innocence Mission has a new album, The Raindrop Cars, and it's very lovely. Listen to that, or any of their albums, really. Can't go wrong.

PS: All this technology and the Bandcamp player won't embed here for some reason. Dumb. Anyways, there are some links above to take you around, if you like.
