Made it out to Cruel World last week. It's in its fourth year, I believe, this was my first time. I bought the ticket because Til Tuesday was on the lineup. Believe it or not, I saw Til Tuesday decades ago, opening for Rick Springfield. I went to that show specifically to see them. After they broke up a few years later, I became an Aimee Mann fan and have been for all these years. So, yeah, I was super interested in seeing Til Tuesday here in 2025 and I got exactly what I hoped for.
But I also got so much more. We started off with Midge Ure. I was never into Ultravox and I remember buying one Ure record because Kate Bush did some backup vocals on a song or two. But I felt compelled to see him, just because he was there, I was there and who knows when the chance would ever happen again. Also made sure to catch Alison Moyet's set. Alison Fucking Moyet! If you told me I'd be seeing her live at any point of my life, I would not have believed it for a second. She seemed like genuinely into it. Great fun.
Also saw OMD. Again, not a huge fan but I'm there and they're there so why not? Excellent set. Saw some of the Death Cult set and Ian Astbury's unmistakable wail. Devo were fucking fantastic. I feel like those guys just don't get enough credit. Caught a bit of Nick Cave, then walked over to The Go-Go's because my buddy hadn't seen them before. I had seen them more than a few times after they reformed, they're always a good time. Ended the night with New Order, which was the perfect way to go out.
Hopefully can make it back for next year's edition.
