Seeing as how Hounds of Love had its 40th anniversary this week (16 Sept 1985), I thought I'd put this one on. I found her just randomly flipping channels at a friend's house. The Babooshka video was playing and I saw this woman in chainmail, just shrieking and letting it all fly. Captivating, to say the least.
I somehow managed to find out her name, went down to my Tower Records and looked through her catalog. Saw that she had a new album coming, so I came back a week or two later and picked up Hounds of Love. Poppy, catchy, dreamy, magical, dark, witchy. Anything you can think of. It really is a perfect album. I used to fall asleep to it regularly, I think it's now seared onto my brain. And side two stands as one of the best album sides I've ever heard. Simply an incredible journey from And Dream of Sheep to The Morning Fog. If you haven't heard it, no time like the present. And if you have heard it and/or have a copy, maybe it's time to give it a spin again.
