This week, the randomizer gave me a box set, so I ran it again and it presented this album, Band of Horses' Everything All the Time. Band of Horses rose up out of the ashes of the great Carissa's Wierd (whom I love love love). Everything All the Time was their first album, which landed in 2006 (this is my copy).
I remember when this came out and I first clicked play. It was like an indie-rock explosion in my ears. Expansive widescreen dreams, perfectly balanced...and heartfelt as well. I played the hell outta this album for many years. Of course, some songs are better than others (The First Song, The Funeral, I Go to the Barn, Monsters, St. Augustine), but each one hits, as far as I'm concerned. As a whole, this is pretty close to a perfect album, and clocking in at 10 tracks and just over half an hour, it doesn't overstay its welcome at all. It's been a while, so it's really refreshing on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Do yourself a favor and make this part of the soundtrack of your next road trip. Or next trip to the grocery store or commute to work. Whatever, just take it on the go with you, turn it up and make your trip epic!
PS: If you're looking for vinyl, I dunno what the reason is but this album is always dirt cheap. Don't pay more than $15 for it.
